DRACUT — A delivery driver’s car was stolen at gunpoint outside an apartment complex on 18th Street shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, according to Dracut police.
The car, a gold 2003 Nissan Altima, was found abandoned by Lowell police in the area of Richards and North Llewellyn streets — near the Christian Hill Reservoir — roughly 30 minutes later.
The car was located by police approximately one mile away from 237 18th St., where it was stolen.
The suspect remains at large. A police K-9 unit tracked the scent of the suspect to the intersection of Humphrey and Methuen streets before the trail ended, according to a Dracut police news release.
The suspect was masked when he pointed a handgun at the delivery driver and demanded money, according to the release. The suspect then ordered the driver out of the car, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants at the time of the crime, and described as approximately 6 feet tall.
No injuries were reported during the course of the carjacking.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Dracut Police Department at 978-957-2123.
