Power slowly returning to Greater Lowell residents following powerful storm

National Grid reports few outages throughout local towns

LOWELL – Power was slowly returning to area communities following Thursday morning’s storm, which cut electricity to thousands of local residents, down tree limbs and made roads slick.

As of 9 a.m. Friday morning, National Grid reported multiple pockets of few power outages throughout Lowell, Chelmsford, Dracut, Billerica and Lawrence. Communities with a larger number of outages are farther east, including Wenham, Essex, Saugus and Lynn.

Chelmsford features about 19 outages scattered throughout the area, while Billerica have 13 reported outages in its neighborhood.

Around nine outages were reported between UMass Lowell and Dracut, while North Chelmsford has nine reported outages surrounding itself.
