Two drivers transported to Lowell General Hospital

DRACUT — A car rear-ended another vehicle, veered off the road and struck a Wheeler Road home Monday afternoon, police said.

Dracut police and firefighters responded to the accident around 3:20 p.m. A Salem, New Hampshire, driver traveling eastbound in a red 2016 Toyota Avalon collided with a 2018 Toyota Highlander operated by a Dracut resident, then veered off the road, according to Dracut Police Sgt. Larry Flynn.

The Avalon struck a residence at 360 Wheeler Road, causing minor property damage, Flynn said. No one at the home was injured.

Both drivers were transported to Lowell General Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Police declined to identify the drivers.

The residence was deemed safe by firefighters and a Dracut building inspector, Flynn said. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. There was no mention of drugs or alcohol in the accident report, Flynn said.
