Dracut wins on, off court; Westford shares DCL title

Freshman center Aya Alkassar had 12 points and 13 rebounds to help the Dracut High girls basketball team beat Methuen, 58-46, on Wednesday night.

It was also the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation “All You Need is Love” game. Both teams helped raise over $2,000 for the foundation.

Freshman forward Cam Watkins had 12 points for the Middies. Freshman guard Tatiannah Fevry had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Dracut led 37-23 at the half.

Westford 55

Jen Martin scored 12 points and the Grey Ghosts earned a share of the DCL Large School championship with the win.

Westford (13-4) played tight defense and also received strong games from Brooke Pillsbury (9 points, 12 rebounds) and Ellie Nolan (7 points).

Pelham 59

Timberlane 24

Olivia Gagnon poured in 21 points to power Pelham to an impressive win.

Abbey Schwab added 16 points for the Pythons, who outscored Timberlane 41-11 in the second half.

The Lancers (11-9) took the loss to close out the regular season and will now await the state tournament.

Senior captain Natalie Kelleher led NDA with 16 points. Bridget Ryan and Emily Aho chipped in 6 points each.

Aliza Som led the Gryphons to the easy victory by scoring 11 points and making 6 steals.

Also starring for Greater Lowell (12-5) were Araceli Lopez with 10 points and 7 rebounds, Aliana Hernandez with 9 points and 5 steals, and Fatta Krah with 7 points.

Lowell started slow and trailed 27-10 at the half and Billerica held on for the MVC conquest.

Billerica’s Madison Bonvie was the game’s high scorer with 13 points.

For Lowell (8-10), Niky Yrrizarry led the hosts with 11, Micheala Martinez added 10 and Athena Mowatt chipped in 8.

The visiting Crusaders dropped this non-league game in Malden. Emily Jussaume and Chloe-Elizabeth Arthur had 8 points each to lead LC (3-13).

Central moved to 14-3 on the season.

Kaylee Thomas scored 9 of her 10 points in the fourth quarter to help the Raiders pull ahead. Emily Downer had 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Trailing by only five at halftime, the Panthers watched as Monty Tech (14-2) scored 22 points in the third quarter to take control.

Riley Murphy netted 11 points, while Katie Hart added 9 and Hayley Sheriff managed 8 for Ayer Shirley.

Maynard netted the state tournament berth as Littleton never recovered after falling into a 16-4 first-quarter hole.

Molly Magnette and Hannah Cochran each registered 9 points for LHS (6-10).

Emma Wilson led Groton-Dunstable (13-4) with 18 points.
