DRACUT — A woman accidentally stepped on the gas while in her Brook Street driveway Friday afternoon, plowing her minivan backwards into her house and straight to the dining room.

“Thank god no one was in there,” said her husband, Siraje Musiitwa, 48. “My daughter was upstairs.”

The family’s two other children were at school, and Musiitwa was not home at the time of the crash around 12:30 p.m.

The driver, Jaliah Musiitwa, 46, was not injured.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage to the rear, and the house at 137 Brook St. sustained heavy damage to the walls and interior.

Dracut police and firefighters responded. The Dracut building inspector determined the house to be sound, but it will need extensive repairs. Workers were boarding up the house Friday evening.

“Thank god no one got hurt,” Siraje said.
