WINCHESTER — A Dracut man is facing a weapons charge after allegedly threatening a woman with a long piece of steel during a road rage incident shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Scott Lawrence, 58, is charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, according to a press release from John Guilfoil Public Relations on behalf of the Winchester Police Department.

According to the alleged victim, Lawrence allegedly cut her off with his vehicle at the Winchester Center traffic rotary, the release states.

When the victim beeped her horn, Lawrence is accused of stopping in front of the alleged victim’s vehicle, forcing her to stop. Lawrence then exited his vehicle while holding a 1-and-a-half-foot piece of steel.

The two exchanged words before Lawrence returned to his vehicle and drove eastbound on Church Street, according to the release.

Lawrence was stopped by Winchester police shortly after at the intersection of Church and Bacon streets. He was taken into custody without incident, the release states.

Lawrence was slated to be arraigned at Woburn District Court Tuesday afternoon, but the results of that proceeding was not immediately available.
