BOSTON — Dracut attorney John. F. Paczkowski was sentenced to six months in prison, one year of supervised release and ordered to pay $192,974 in restitution in federal court Thursday for filing false tax returns, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Paczkowski, 73, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge George A. O’Toole.

In November 2016, Paczkowski pleaded guilty to two counts of filing false tax returns as well as not paying more than $192,000 in federal taxes in 2009 and 2010. At the time, he worked as the only practitioner in a legal office in Dracut.

“In this capacity, he was required by the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers and the Rules of Professional Conduct to hold client funds in a trust account separate from his own funds,” a press release stated.

Paczkowski embezzled and misappropriated more than $630,000 in funds from clients, the release stated.
