A depleted Dracut girls eighth-grade basketball team squeaked by a much improved Andover squad 33-28, as the Lady Middies missed Ashley Armano due to injury.

Melissa Iannuzzo’s 10 points led the Dracut offense as Andover hung tough throughout the game. Fatta Scott ripped down 15 rebounds with Andrea Guerrero snagging four for the Lady Middies. Julia Otoski picked off two passes for the 7-1 Dracut team as Lilly King was perfect from the charity stripe.

The girls pulled away from a pesky Pentucket team in the second half to improve to 8-1 with a 37-28 victory. Meghan Carney’s (10) inside scoring and Jaxy Marquez’s (8) hot outside shooting kept Pentucket’s defenders busy all day. Sarah Wilson and Meghan Cox hustled all over the court and hounded Pentucket’s guards into multiple turnovers.

Contributions from all the boys of the Dracut boys seventh-grade basketball team allowed the Middies to run past Westford 38-25. Michael Patterson, Trevor Usher, Mitchell Monette, Aise Pream, Cam McCullough and Kevin Carney scored points for Dracut as they improved their record to 8-1 this year.

Tyler Pacheco made several steals as William Peters, Jaeden Yylton, Colby Manzueta, Jeremy Gray and Matt Rossetti rebounded well to control the boards against the Grey Ghosts. The Middies led at the half by seven and pulled away early after the break.
