The Dracut 7th-grade boys Basketball Team ripped off three more wins, including two impressive games against the best competition the Merrimack Valley League has to offer. The Middies pounded Reading 39-26 as William Peters, Jaeden Yylton and Tyler Pacheco tallied from the floor with Michael Patterson rebounding well. Trevor Usher exploded for 26 points and nine rebounds in an exciting 67-55 victory over Lowell. The Red Raiders came into the contest as last year’s champions but were sent home with a loss because of the scoring of Mitchell Monette (14), Colby Manzueta (12) and Aise Pream (12), who were cheered on by their teammates. Cam McCullough’s 26 points helped Dracut defeat a cocky Haverhill squad 58-49. Kevin Carney also scored points as Jeremy Gray and Matt Rossetti pulled down rebounds in this very satisfying triumph which improved Dracut’s record to 7-1.

The Dracut 8th-grade girls team improved to 4-1 as they knocked off Reading 46-26 in an impressive win, holding them to 10 first-half points. The Lady Middies’ hounding defense stifled the frustrated offense of Reading early in this contest. Scoring for Dracut were Melissa Iannuzzo (18), Fatta Scott (11), Jaxy Marquez (10), Julia Otoski (3), Lilly King (2) and Sarah Wilson (2). Andrea Guerrero (6), Ashley Armano (4) and Meghan Cox (2) worked hard under the boards collecting rebounds.
