Eligible senior citizens can work in a town department for 62.5 hours and receive $500 off their property tax bill.

l To be eligible for this program an applicant must:

l Be 60 years or older

l Be a homeowner or current spouse of homeowner

l Reside in the town of Dracut

l Occupy the property for which the property taxes are paid

l Be retired and not working as of January 1, 2013

l Not be receiving any other abatement or exemption from the Town of Dracut

l Present a copy of a current property tax notice upon application to the program

l Be deemed income eligible based on the 2012 Massachusetts State Circuit Breaker Credit Income Levels

l Total income cannot exceed: $53,000 for a single individual who is not head of household: $67,000 for a head of household: $80,000 for married couples filing jointly.

Income verification will be determined by 2011 income tax returns or if you do not file taxes a Form 4506T will need to be submitted to the IRS. Form 4506T are available at the Dracut Council on Aging

Application period for the program will be the month of December. Applications will be taken at the Dracut Council on Aging 951 Mammoth Road Dracut
