Greater Lowell Hawks win hockey championship

The Greater Lowell Hawks, part of the Valley Hockey League, won the state championship in the Squirt Tier II division in a tournament played Mach 16-18 at Olympia Ice Center in Springfield. The team won the district championship in January.

In the Massachusetts Hockey Championship Tournament, the Hawks played five games in less than 48 hours, outscoring their opponents 27 to 9, on their way to a record of four wins, no losses and a tie. The team took a decisive 4-1 win over Burlington March 18, winning Greater Lowell’s first-ever state championship.
