DRACUT — It’s a night of fun and laughs geared toward creating another night of fun and laughs. The DHS Grad Night Committee is sponsoring its third annual Comedy Night to benefit the 2012 Grad Night — a safe, fun and chemical-free graduation night for DHS seniors. Grad Night provides free transportation for the students to an athletic club, where awaiting them is a safe haven of all-night games and activities on one of the riskiest nights in their lives.

Comedy Night will take place beginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Acacia Club in Dracut. Sue Ferri, chairperson of the Grad Night Committee, recently answered five questions about three comedians coming to Dracut to lighten up a dark winter’s night with a lot of laughs among friends.

Q: Tell us about the comedians scheduled.

A: Artie Januario is the headliner and is a very funny and talented comedian. He happens to be a pharmacist by day and has worked in Boston, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He is one of the most well-known and respected comedians on the East Coast. He has scheduled two other comedians that he travels with, and who are also very funny.

Q: What do you hope draws both new people as well as Comedy Night veterans to this year’s event?

A: There are several good reasons we hope people will attend. The first is that you don’t have to travel far to see Boston-caliber comedians, and Artie Januario is very, very funny. The second reason is that people can enjoy a fun-filled, inexpensive night out with friends. The third reason is, of course, the reason why we are hosting this event, which is to benefit the 2012 graduating seniors of Dracut High School.

Q: What are the ticket prices?

A: The tickets will be sold at $35 for two or one ticket for $20. We hope to raise $1,000 this year.

Q: How will the night unfold?

A: The doors open at 7 and the comedians will come on around 8:15 p.m. We will have two 50/50 raffle squares as well as several gift baskets to raffle off at the beginning of the evening. As always, everyone is invited to bring their own food and beverages.

Q: How successful have your Comedy Nights been the past two years?

A: They’ve been very successful. This is usually a very popular event, so email us at dhsgradnight@yahoo.com ahead of time to reserve your tickets.

Acacia Club, 247 Sladen St., Dracut. Tickets will be available at the door; reservations can be made by emailing dhsgradnight@yahoo.com.
