Dracut 47

Methuen 10

After finishing last year with a 33-3 record and a River Valley championship, the Lady Middies knew teams would be gunning for them early and often.

Proving once again that the “D” in Dracut stands for defense, the girls completely smothered Methuen, 47-10, in the opening game of the season in the Methuen Waldie Tournament. Every player on the team collected rebounds as Julianna Fagan (7) and Kate Simpson (4) worked hard under the glass.

A balanced scoring attack led by Melissa Iannuzzo (10 points) allowed the Lady Middies to jump out to a quick lead. Also scoring for Dracut were Erin McMeniman (9), Olivia Pantano (8), Lindsey Emond (8), and Julia Otoski (6).

Emily Cloutier (4) and Lilly King had steals for the Lady Middies in the first game of the Waldie Tournament.

All the girls send out their best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to their teammate, Meghan Carney.
