NORTH ANDOVER — Light up the night with Merrimack Valley Hospice at its third annual “Candles of Remembrance” memorial fundraiser on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Stevens Estate in North Andover.
Participants will gather outdoors on the stately grounds of the Stevens Estate for a candle-lighting ceremony to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost and impart warmth and hope to their families and friends.
Each guest will be given a vigil candle and will be invited to pass the flame and say the name of his or her loved one. A chaplain will lead a brief nondenominational service. An indoor reception and tribute-book viewing follows. The tribute book lists the names of all those being honored, and will be placed on display at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
All proceeds benefit Merrimack Valley Hospice patients and families who are cared for in their own homes, in long-term care facilities or at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Reserve your vigil candle with a minimum donation of $25. Those who make a gift of $100 or more will be given the 2011 commemorative candle stick holder, a chamber stick crafted in Italy with a polished chrome finish, as a memento of their participation in the event. With a single gift of $1,000 or more your loved one will be honored year after year during the ceremony.
Those who are unable to attend the event can still reserve a vigil candle that a volunteer will hold during the event to recognize your loved one.
“Reservations for the event must be made by Nov. 28 by calling 978-552-4927 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Vigil candles and the 2011 commemorative candle holder can also be reserved online at www.MerrimackValleyHospice.org.
