Dracut, 2, Wilmington 0

Dracut moved into first place in the Merrimack Valley Youth Soccer League with a commanding 2-0 win over a combative Wilmington squad.

The first half was filled with end-to-end rushes by both teams as Meghan Carney, Olivia Pantano and Melissa Iannuzzo had several scoring chances. Goalie Erin McMeniman of Dracut made a number of outstanding saves as the half ended in a 0-0 tie.

Dracut scored early in the second half as Natalie Tellier made her way around several defenders. Sarah Bazarian’s nice pass set up Molly Jones’ blast past the Wilmington goalie as Dracut took a 2-0 lead.

Doherty and Hallie Bosia clamped down on the defensive end as goalie Kirsten Trouville helped shut out Wilmington.

U10-4

Dracut 3, Reading 0

Quinn DíAmato scored 2 goals and Jessica Sartori added the other for Dracut.

Amie Yang and Ashley Grimes added assists.

Shauna Currie went the distance in goal for the shutout.

Coaches comments: Great goaltending by Shauna Currie, along with fantastic shutdown defense by Samantha Havel, Michaela Pepin, Emma Sancartier, and Shannon Rich.

Final season record: 5-5-0.
