Middlesex Community College’s English Learner Institute offers a variety of noncredit courses focusing on developing basic English and other skills essential to functioning in American society.
Enrollment is now open for summer courses, which run May 17 through July 23 in four- and six-week sessions. Classes meet for two hours a day on MCC’s Lowell campus. Admission to the program is open to all and does not require an MCC admission application.
Courses are designed to serve students, age 16 and up, who are newcomers to the United States or who need to develop basic English skills. Topics such as technology, life skills and social conventions are also covered. Non-native speakers who have not met state MCAS requirements for high-school graduation may also take this coursework.
Support services available include: an English Language Learner tutoring lab, access to computers, library services and student services, such as career counseling, academic advising, and health services.

Registration is now open for Middlesex Community College’s Prepare to Attend College (PAC) program, a free English-language program running May 17-June 24.
PAC is designed for students who have never been to college and want to continue their education, but find that English is a barrier. The program is geared for beginning- through intermediate-level English-language students. Classes are held four mornings a week, Monday through Thursday, on MCC’s Lowell campus.

Upgrade your education and skills this summer at Middlesex Community College. Enroll in one of our three summer sessions, a Saturday accelerated session or the Sprint program for entering first-year students – or send your kids to one of our unique summer camps.
Summer session I will run Monday through Thursday, June 1 to July 1 (four days per week).
Summer session II will run Monday through Thursday, July 6 to Aug. 5 (four days per week).
Summer session III will run June 2 to July 26 or June 1 to July 20. Classes meet either Monday and Wednesday evening, or Tuesday and Thursday evening (two times per week).
The summer Saturday accelerated session will run June 26 to Aug. 14.
MCC’s Sprint program helps entering first-year college students improve their reading, writing or math skills before beginning college coursework. This intensive, eight-week summer program runs four mornings a week, Monday through Thursday, June 14 to Aug. 5.
Summer camps at Middlesex are designed to actively engage children, ages 8 to 15, in a fun learning environment. This year, more than 30 camps will be offered July 6 through Aug. 12, exploring the fields of design, science, technology and the arts. Most camps run Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An optional after-camps Program can provide campers with stimulating activities from 4:30 to 6 p.m. No camps will be held on Fridays.

Middlesex Community College will host a weatherization workshop on Thursday, May 6, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the MCC Federal Building in Lowell.
This workshop is designed for individuals considering starting a weatherization business. It is sponsored by the MassGREEN Initiative and taught by industry professionals. Learn the information you need to know to decide if this is a business opportunity that is right for you.
Issues to be discussed at the workshop include: What does “weatherization” really mean? What skills, training and resources does it take to start and run your own weatherization contracting business in Massachusetts? What kinds of equipment will you need to buy? How much does your initial investment need to be?

The spring semester Weekend College accelerated session will run May 1 to June 19. Registration is now open.
Classes meet on Saturdays in a 15-week or an accelerated eight-week format. Credit for prior learning, training, work or life experience may be granted. Up to 45 transfer credits may be awarded to students with previous college experience.
Weekend College at Middlesex also offers special Accelerated Business and Early Childhood Education degree programs. By combining weekend and online classes, students can earn an associate degree in business or early childhood education in just 24 months.
Weekend College courses give students additional opportunities to take required prerequisites for admission to selective programs of study.
