Dracut’s sixth-grade girls travel team opened the season with a win over Melrose 42-13. Offensively all 11 girls contributed to the 42 points scored making it a well-balanced game.

Adriana Martinez and Rebecca Fisher led the way with 6 points each. Kendra Kukulski and Lauren Chapman added 5 points apiece, while Sydney Oliveria, Emma Thibodeau and Sarah Myers each added 4 points.

Rounding out the scoring were Shaye Lane with 3 points, Emily Tierney and Valerie Hines 2 points and Kimberly Egan 1 point.

Defensively all the girls played great holding Melrose to only 13 points.


The boys fourth-grade travel team started its season off with a tough game against a very talented Tewksbury squad.

Kevin Carney scored 3 points for the Middies and Marcus Blum scored a basket.

Mitchell Monette had six steals, while Chris Nugent led the team with six rebounds.

Jalen Ortiz and James Fazio also had three rebounds each. Nick Desimone and Ethan Nicholson each had steals.

Nik Carter dove for every loose ball, while Nathan O’Brien hustled up and down the court.
