There’s still time to register for summer camps at MCC

Send your kids to college for camp this summer.

Middlesex Community College is still accepting enrollments for many of its summer camps, which run July 6 through Aug. 13 in Bedford and Lowell.

Designed to actively engage students, ages 8 to 15, in an exciting learning environment, Middlesex summer camps include Web design, forensics, computer technology, fashion design, photography, recording studio techniques, and film production.

More than 30 one- and two- and three-week camps are offered. Most camps run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An optional after-camps program for on-campus camps provides campers with stimulating activities from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

BEHIND THE SCENES IN A RECORDING STUDIO : This is for campers who want to learn bout the workings of a recording studio and what it takes to be a recording engineer. Microphones, analog and digital recording, editing, mixing and mastering will be covered. Students will use MCC’s state of the art recording studio and will take a trip to Wellspring Sound Recording Studio in Acton. This camp meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., July 6-10, and again on July 13-16 on the Bedford campus. There is no camp Friday, July 17. Register for camp number YTH 644 30 for July 6-10. Cost is $399. Register for camp number YTH 644 31 for July 13-16. Cost is $319.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING with DRSCHEME : For 10-12 year-olds and 13-15 year-olds, these camps are for math students who enjoy working on the computer. DRSCHEME will enable campers to piece different functional parts of code that will create games at the end. It is perfect for beginner programmers, but a strong understanding of age-appropriate mathematical concepts is necessary.

The entire camp is spent in a pc lab. The camp for 10-12 year-olds meets from 9 a.m. to noon, July 6-10, on the Bedford campus. Register for camp number YTH 613 30. Cost is $159. The camp for 13-15 year-olds meets 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 13-16, on the Bedford campus. There’s no camp Friday, July 17. Register for camp number YTH 613 31. Cost is $159.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: Campers will learn about photo composition, lighting, editing and digital photography software. Some picture-taking experience is helpful, but not necessary.

There will be photo assignments, a field trip and time spent in the computer lab, enhancing images. Campers must bring their own digital camera with available memory each day and a portable memory stick. The instructor is a professional photographer and an experienced instructor. This camp meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., July 13-16, on the Bedford campus. There is no camp Friday, July 17. Register for camp number YTH 623 30. Cost is $289.

This camp also meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., July 27-30, in Bedford. There is no camp July 31. Register for camp number YTH 623 31. Cost is $289.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY II : This is for those who want to expand on their knowledge of digital photography, technically and creatively. Campers will learn to expose and compose beautiful photographs. Through advanced photo assignments and guidance from the trained staff.

Instructor and campers will work toward developing their own personal styles. There will be a field trip and time spent in the Mac lab improving Photoshop skills. Campers must bring their own digital camera with available memory each day and a portable memory stick. Previous experience required. A SLR Digital camera recommended, but not required. This camp meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 10-13, on the Bedford campus. There is no camp Friday, Aug. 14. Register for camp number YTH 651 30. Cost is $289.
