I enjoy all of Warren Shaw’s weekly columns, but I particularly appreciated his post-Thanksgiving one highlighting the three Dracut selectmen who were arrested for taking bribes in the 1970s.

Using the arrests of Dianne Wilkerson and Chuck Turner, both Boston politicians, Shaw reminds us that when we stop paying attention to local politics and government, elected officials tend to feel they can get away with anything.

This is the exact reason I began a new blog titled, Dracut Politics ( I view it as another resource for Dracut residents to stay up to date with their town’s government and politics.

Too often, we devote all of our time and resources to national and state politics, forgetting that local government impacts our lives the most. I hope residents will see Dracut politics as another way to stay informed and to keep their elected officials accountable.
