METHUEN — The spectacular view of the Merrimack River will remain, but the owners of Our Place, located on Route 110, have some other changes in mind.

Helen and Ilias Sitmalidis, who bought the former Jimmy’s II restaurant in April, have been working feverishly to make the place their own. A horseshoe bar has been brought closer to the center of the dining room. Plans also call for a wide-open kitchen area, new pizza ovens, an expanded outside patio area and an addition that will include a second entrance. The carpets in the dining room have been removed and will be replaced by ceramic tiles. The rest rooms will receive a complete overhaul.

But the bright conservatory windows that surround two sides of the building will not be touched. “The windows are beautiful,” said Helen Sitmalidis. “We would never even think of getting rid of the windows.”

The new owners are hoping for an October opening.

“We will offer casual family dining,” said Sitmalidis. “Breakfast, lunch and dinner, a full bar, Greek-American dishes, pasta, great steaks, fresh seafood and much more. We are very excited about it.”

The Sitmalidis family has been in the restaurant business for almost 30 years. They owned and operated Symposium Family Dining in New Bedford and a small pizza shop near Symphony Hall in Boston. When they moved to Andover, they were in the market for a new venture.

“We looked at the needs of the community and when Jimmy’s II became available, we decided to give it a go,” Sitmalidis said. “There is a need for casual family dining along that road, and we are looking forward to meeting everyone when we open.”

Jimmy’s II was a staple along the Merrimack River corridor for 22 years. Owners Bette and Jimmy Zygouris said that business was wonderful, but they wanted to pursue other ventures.
