METHUEN — Caring families who enjoy learning about a different culture and making lasting friendships are needed to host students from Italy for two weeks this fall.
The students are from Rome, Italy, and will be participating in various full-day activities at Methuen High School, as well as trips to area attractions, including Boston, seaside towns, mountains, Harvard Square and Salem. Trips will depart and return from Methuen High School. We will keep them busy from start of school day until 5 p.m. most days, Monday-Friday.
Evenings and weekends are spent with the host family. This is the second year a group from Rome will visit Methuen. A group from Methuen traveled back to Rome this past February.
We are looking for 10 host families who are able to welcome a student into your lives for two weeks. Any family, large or small, with high-school age children can be a host family.
The host family provides a bed and meals and allows the visitor to participate in its usual activities.
The group arrives on Sept. 25 and departs Oct 9. All students speak English, and have their own spending money. Their ages range from 14 to 17. All requested transportation is local, to and from the high school.
This can be the start of a lifelong friendship. Many families have traveled to visit their host student in their country, sending their child to visit for reciprocated hospitality. It can be a connection that can pass to the next generation as it has with so many families.
