GROTON — On May 30, Joseph DeMoura of Dracut graduated from Lawrence Academy during the school’s 215th commencement exercises.

Joe frequently achieved a place on the honor roll during his career, earning high honors in mathematics and history electives his final year. He also was a four-year member of the football team.

During his first Winterim, a two-week experiential learning session in March, Joe observed the social behavior of the wolf packs in Yellowstone National Park. In following years, he kayaked, bicycled, and hiked from coast to coast in Baja, Mexico, learning about the local environment and culture, and most recently, kayaked in Yucatan, Mexico, studying the ecology with local naturalists, learning about the area’s history and interacting with the local Mexican communities.

The son of Maureen and Joseph DeMoura, he will attend Suffolk University in the fall.
