DRACUT POP WARNER TEAMS POST SHUTOUT WINS OVER ACTON-BOXBORO

The Dracut “A” and “B” squads both posted shutout wins over Acton-Boxboro in week two of Pop Warner football action last weekend.

DRACUT “A” 8 ACTON-BOXBORO 0

Shaq Shepherd scored the only touchdown, while Artie Notini pulled down a pair of interceptions as well as scoring the point-after. Other standouts include James Machado, Matt Jones, Matt Perez, Kyle Paquette-Marvin, Jeff Derby, Peter Salem, Brendan Rutstein and Raymond Chim.

ACTON-BOXBORO 0

Brandon Lamphier rushed for two touchdowns and added a conversion to lead Dracut to a convincing win over Acton-Boxboro.

Zack Bassett added a 62-yard touchdown run. Bryant Tuff, Sean O’Brien, Obie Amafuele, Brad Perry, Mina Botros, Mike Murphy and Zack Nordstrom did a great job blocking up front. Danny Kelly had eight tackles and a quarterback sack to lead the stingy Dracut defense. Ray Maldonado (interception), Brian Boumil (fumble recovery), Kenny McLaughlin and Bobby Savarese also made big contributions on defense. Ryan Schwartz and Brian Bond made big plays on both sides of the ball.

For the second week in a row, the Middies defense, led by Nathan Dumais, Owen Cormick, Chris Emond, Christian Enwright, Anthony Sampson and Andrew Sawyer, was solid.

Zack Gray scored two touchdowns for Dracut, while Ryan Hunt, Jimmy Shaw and Kyle Rubert added the other scores. Also stong on offense were Austin Bobb and Jared Lennon. Dracut also has three fumble recoveries, while Brandon Berniche had two and Cameron Conley one.

Dracut was powered by a swarming defense, led by Joey Goudey (fumble return for touchdown) and Ricky Goss (interception return for a touchdown). Also playing strong defense was Joshua Gonzalez, Mike Caroll, Cameron Chausse, Jacob Arbuckle and Shane Dupre. The offense was led by touchdown runs from Adam Beudry, Jordan Vazquez and Frank Trczienski.

Robert McNamara, Tim Sousa and Jack Streeter ran the ball well for Dracut. Tim Morris, Darryl Mitchell and Casey Mendonca bottled up the middle on defense. Chris Bakas had a great hit causing a fumble, which he also recovered. Craig Santos also had a great game at linebacker, making a number of key tackles.
