METHUEN — Carousel Student Tours is looking for 20 host families to welcome a student into their lives for two weeks.

Any family, large or small, including home-schooled, with high-school age children can be a host family.

The only requirement is a desire to welcome a foreign student into one’s family circle, as well as to provide transportation to and from Methuen High School.

The students are from Rome, Italy, and will be participating in school and other activities such as trips to Boston, the seaside, mountains, Harvard Square and Salem. Trips will depart and return from the high school. Since the youngsters will be kept busy from start of school day until 5 p.m. on most weekdays, evenings and weekends are spent with the host family. It is not as demanding as it seems. The family provides lodging and meals, and allows their guest to participate in its activities.

The program, partnered with Catherine Healy of Methuen High School, is looking for caring families who enjoy learning about a different culture and making lasting friendships.

The group of students, ages 14 to 17, will arrive on Sept. 13, and stay through Sept. 27. All students speak English and have their own spending money.

They want to learn about our country, and the most beneficial way is to be a member of an American family.
