I get a lot of e-mails from people wondering where I shop for furniture, accessories and everything else for the home. So I thought I would share a few of my favorite shopping spots with all of you.
One of my absolute favorite places is IKEA (www.ikea.com). If you have never been to IKEA, you are missing out. IKEA is like a decorating amusement park for adults. The store has great, inexpensive options for just about anything you need. Some of my finds there have included great bedding for kids, loads of pillows, bamboo-like blinds, fabulous sheers, and tons of kitchen tools and accessories.
Another one of my favorite places is Sherwin Williams (www.sherwin-williams.com). I’m sure I have mentioned them at least 100 times before, but I really love their products and the staff is incredibly helpful. They really know a lot about the products and can steer you in the right direction. They also will make up sample pots for you in any color so you can try the colors before you make a big commitment.
If you are going to purchase faux flowers or plants for your home, there is only one brand to get and that is NDI (www.ndi.com). They are moderately priced but absolutely stunning. NDI is the only one that make the faux product look real. They offer a tremendous variety — everything from small arrangements to large, dramatic displays and they are all gorgeous. I only know of one place around here to get their products and that is at Jordan’s Furniture. You have to check them out the next time you are there.
For great beds, dining tables or other wood products I really like Maine Cottage (www.mainecottage.com). They have such a fantastic, almost whimsical style and adding a piece or two from their collection can really give a room a different and unique feel. Their pieces are offered in almost every color imaginable, so many people opt to use them in kids’ rooms. But do not underestimate them. You can create some very sophisticated looks with their products, depending on the colors you choose.
If you are looking for fabulous fabrics at discounted prices, you have to go to Zimman’s (www.zimmans.com) in Lynn, Mass. I know that seems pretty far away but, trust me, you will be glad you made the trip. This place is insane. I literally got vertigo when I went with my business partner. All you can see is fabric absolutely everywhere and it is all discounted. What fun!
Another great place to find great things for your home is flea markets. I know it sounds crazy but it is true. Just two weeks ago, I found the most incredible lamp at the Londonderry flea market. You never know what you are going to find and the best part is, most likely it will be a one-of-a-kind item that you won’t see in all your friend’s homes.
