METHUEN — Not Your Average Joe’s is anything but average.
From the food and beverages to the decor and ambiance, the restaurant lives up to its name.
“From sushi tuna to meatloaf to pizza, we have everything,” chef Corey Marcoux said. “That’s what makes us Not Your Average Joe’s; we have something for everybody.”
Marcoux has been with the Massachusetts-based restaurant chain since 2000 when the Methuen location opened at The Loop.
“I’m always cooking; I love it,” Marcoux said. “I don’t see anything better. You have to eat to live. Diets don’t work for me; you have to have flavor and sometimes flavor means having a little bit of fat.”
Flavor and freshness is what Marcoux and the staff rely on to keep repeat customers coming through the doors.
If you still can’t find something on the menu to suit your fancy, Marcoux is known for satisfying his guests with their requests. “There’s never anything I won’t try to make happen,” Marcoux said. “We have no problems with substitutes. Very rarely the answer is no. We always want to take care of guests.”
Taking care of your guests is one thing, but Marcoux goes out of his way for his.
There are two specific customers that frequent the restaurant and each has a unique meal made that isn’t on the menu –chicken parmesan and a steak and cheese sub.
One of the most famous items at Joe’s isn’t even on the menu — the bread. “You can’t get it anywhere,” Marcoux said. “It’s homemade caramelized onion focaccia bread and it’s free.”
Not in the mood to eat out, but in the mood for the bread? Not your average Joe’s offers a loaf of the bread along with the dip for $5.
For those planning a dinner party or brunch without the hassle of cooking, Not Your Average Joe’s offers Take-Out XL for those occasions.
The lounge offers a full bar with everything from the popular, trendy mojitos and classic martinis to wine and draft beer, but it’s not an average hangout. “We honestly don’t want the bar atmosphere,” Marcoux said. “It’s really a lounge.”
Looking for a fun Saturday night? Not Your Average Joe’s has partnered with Loews Methuen 20 for dinner and a movie. “We sell movie tickets for $7.50,” Marcoux said. “And after the movie bring in your stub and get 15 percent off.”
The restaurant also has one thing not many restaurants have — an outside patio. “It’s great in the summer,” Marcoux said. “You can come back from the beach and have appetizers and drinks on the patio.”
