METHUEN — The high school is currently accepting applications for the head football coach vacancy.

Athletic director Jim Weymouth is putting together a screening committee to help in the process.

The committee will consist of members of the community, including a student-athlete, a parent of a student-athlete, a head coach in the high school, a teacher in the high school, a School Committee member and a community representative.

The committee will screen the applications and schedule candidate interviews.

After the interviews, the committee will then send the final two to four candidates to Weymouth and high school principal Arthur Nicholson for final interviews.

Superintendent Jeanne Whitten will have final say about who is hired. Nicholson said he hopes to have the new coach in place by February at the latest.
