PELHAM — The students and patrons of Pelham High School saw their school gymnasium transformed from a place of school sports and gym class to a high-powered catwalk.

After months of preparation, Janet Gary and her 45 Pelham High School fashion students were finally able to see the fruits of their labor come together on Nov. 19, when more than 400 people came out to see their student-produced fashion show.

With a theme of “Freeway to Fashion,” the event featured six segments that consisted of formal, casual, business, western, nightlife and sleep wear. The students, who created the theme, set and advertising for the show, got a taste of what being a model was really like when they braved the stage and strutted their stuff.

“It was a blast,” said fashion student Emily Coppin of being on stage. Coppin wore clothes from Cache, Deb and Finish Line.

Besides being an entertaining time, the fashion show also helped Pelham High School’s fashion class raise enough money for their class trip to New York City.
