- Where to
50 Warren at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. Chef Adam Parker has only been running the kitchen for a little more than two months but has 20 years of kitchen experience and isn't a stranger to cooking in and around the Merrimack Valley. He's glad to have a chance to create fresh new dining concepts while at the helm at 50 Warren, which opened in 2009.
- What for
Breakfast, lunch or dinner. While 50 Warren is much more than your average hotel restaurant, it still lends the convenience factor that a hotel guest would expect. Parker's menu has a farm-to-table focus and his items often feature local berries, apples, cheeses, greens and tomatoes; even the shrimp is sustainable.
- The scene
The eatery is set just past the lobby of the inn. The wide room seats 75 and boasts color-block carpeting and dark wood tables; its back wall is made entirely of glass to give guests a view of the canal. The restaurant also offers al fresco dining on its canal-side patio.
- What you're eating
"Life is short, eat dessert first," Parker said and he brought out a dome of chocolate positioned on a long dish emblazoned with a chocolate print of the UMass Lowell logo made using ganache and a silkscreen. The dome -- appropriately named "Decadence" -- is filled with rich dark and white chocolate mousse, topped with a milk chocolate shell adorned with white chocolate curls. Parker is preparing to roll out the fall menu at 50 Warren in the next few weeks.
- Who you'll see there
Everyone! 50 Warren isn't just for inn guests or conference goers, it's open to the public.
