Former world boxing champion Micky Ward will be making a special appearance Saturday at Tutto Bene Wine & Cheese Cellar in Lowell to sign a limited number of bottles of the 2009 Uppercut Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ward, whose determined story was captured in the highly-acclaimed movie "The Fighter," will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to proprietor Dick Rourke.
Produced by Provenance Vineyards in Napa Valley, Uppercut Cabernet has received high marks from tasting experts for its rich, fruit forward taste and balanced tannins. It sells for $29.95 a bottle. A 15 percent discount is offered to those purchasing a case of wine, said Rourke.
Rourke said 10 percent of all sales will be donated to Team Micky Charities, Ward's nonprofit which funds activities for underprivileged children in the Lowell area.
Tutto Bene is located at the rear of 59 Prescott St. in downtown Lowell.
