LOWELL -- The public is invited to attend "Challenge Night", the first philanthropic effort of The Next Generation Giving Circle, an initiative of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation to bring together like-minded young professionals with a passion for giving back to their community.

Three regional arts organizations -- 119 Gallery and Free Verse!, both of Lowell, and 3Rivers Arts of Groton -- will compete for three mini-grants from NGGC, based on the vote of the public in attendance. The event takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 6-8 p.m. at Garcia Brogan's, 131 Middlesex St., Lowell. Tickets are $25, available at the door or online at www.glcfoundation.org.
