Aidan Virella smacked two home runs to power PYO to a 19-2 victory over Callery during the City Commissioner's Cup.

PYO 19, Callery 2 — The PYO offense was led by Virella (2 HR's, single, 3 RBI), Jake Hamilton (single, double, 2 triples, 2 RBI), and Jake Descheneaux (2 triples, 2 RBI).

For PYO, Virella & Charley Mirabal had strong outings on the mound with 1 hit allowed in the game, and Jake Descheneaux played solid defense behind the plate with 2 pickoffs.

Suburban Pony League

LOWELL HIGHLANDS 7, Andover 5 — Jeremy Delacruz struck out 2 over 2 innings to earn the win during the 14-15 Division game.

Lowell was helped by strong pitching from Brisean Evicci, who came in relief and tossed 3 2/3 innings of 2-hit baseball.

Offensively, Lowell was led by Isaac Perez, who had a double and a single and Delacruz, who hit a 2-run triple to put Lowell ahead to stay in the bottom of the sixth.

Also chipping in with key hits were Mathew Desroches with 1 hit and an RBI, and Frankie Melendez, who also added a hit and and RBI.

Futures League

The 2019 Futures League All-Star Game will be held Tuesday, July 16 at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield.

Pitcher Cam Seguin of the North Shore Navigators was chosen to compete. Seguin, an Austin Prep graduate, will be a UMass Lowell freshman in the fall.

The lefty has struck out 29 batters in only 21.1 innings with North Shore. He sports a 1.68 earned run average. He led Austin Prep to the top seed in the Division 3 North field.
