Catie's Closet gala

ANDOVER -- Catie's Closet's eighth annual gala, A Night to Open Doors, is Saturday, March 16, starting at 6 p.m., at Andover Country Club. The night will include dinner, dancing, auctions and a raffle. The Dracut-based charity's goal is to empower youths to succeed in school, to boost their confidence, and to help them achieve their full potential. CHELMSFORD -- Congregation Shalom in Chelmsford invites all interested to the unique musical program "Written in Breath" on Sunday, March 24, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., presented by Yiddish performer Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell, an African-American classically trained operatic bass. Russell creates an a cappella musical conversation between Yiddish songs and classic Jewish texts, to engage, celebrate and argue the continuities of Jewish spiritual and cultural life.
