Defending state champion Groton-Dunstable dropped its first game of the spring as North Middlesex pitcher Pat Aubuchon helped his own cause with a two-run double in a 6-3 victory Thursday.

Baseball

Groton-Dunstable had its 25-game winning streak snapped.

North Middlesex 6

Groton-Dunstable 3

Aubuchon (1-0) struck out 9, walked 2, allowed 5 hits and allowed 3 earned runs. Losing pitcher Joe Simeone fanned 10, walked 4, yielded 9 hits and allowed 4 earned runs.

For North Middlesex (2-1), Nick White went 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, Aubuchon went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, and Nate Messina went 3-for-3 with 3 singles and 2 runs.

For Groton-Dunstable (2-1), Matt Naughton went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Simeone went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.

Lowell 3

Haverhill 0

Dalton Quinn (3-0) went 5 innings for the win, allowing 4 hits and striking out 5 for the Red Raiders.

Lowell (6-1) received a six-out save from Chris Ward. Offensively, Henry Funaro went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Anderson Jimenez went 2-for-4, Max Gilman went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Alex Cruz went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Greater Lowell 10

Jeremy Gray led the Gryphons with 2 doubles and 3 RBI during an easy CAC victory.

Greater Lowell (1-0) received strong pitching from sophomore Jeff Springer (1-0), who allowed 3 hits and fanned 5 in 4 innings.

Nick Kacavas ripped 3 hits. Other offensive stars were Owen Gomez, Darnel Santana (2 hits), Brian Bosia (double, 2 RBI) and Cole Blades (single, 2 RBI).

Junior Ben Membrino threw his second straight complete game as the Colonials edged host Bedford in a close DCL clash.

He struck out 6 and allowed 2 unearned runs. Offensively for A-B (3-2), senior Brian Quantrille had a game-tying triple and senior William Otero delivered the game-winning single.

Minuteman 7

Nashoba Tech 4

The Vikings fell despite a 3-hit performance by John Dupell. Nashoba Tech received 2 RBI from junior David Kelley.

Tewksbury 0

Sean Nugent pitched a complete-game 2-hitter while striking out 5 as the Middies earned the MVC victory.

Thomas Crowley led the hitting attack for Dracut (3-2) with 3 hits and 3 RBI. He had a single, double and triple. Collected hits for the Middies were Fred Kazalaski, Joe Donnelly, Ryan Talbot and Kyle Hould.

Tewksbury's 2 hits came from freshman second baseman Nolan Timmons.

Shawsheen 9

Leo Frisella went the distance on the mound, scattering 7 hits while striking out 2 and only giving up 1 earned run, as the Rams improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the CAC.

Aaron Bennett banged out 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Chris Galinos chipped in offensive with 2 hits and 2 runs scored, while Zac Carpenter and Chris Ferrari notched 2 hits apiece.
