Host Methuen defeated Chelmsford, 6-1, in Game 1 of their Suburban Pony League 14-15 year-old semifinal series Saturday.

The best-of-three series continues with Game 2 scheduled for Sunday at Chelmsford at 2 p.m.

Chelmsford pitcher Kyler Brown only allowed 5 hits but Methuen took advantage of one bad inning from Chelmsford.

Josh Roberge and Nick Glekas had singles for the locals.
