Mike Mercuri pitched a no-hitter to spark Lowell Shedd to an 11-1 rout of Dracut during the opening game of a Suburban Pony League 14-15 Division playoff series.
The game was stopped after five innings by the mercy rule.

Mercuri was superb on the mound for the Lowell team.
He struck out 10, walked 4 and hit a pair of batters. Offensively, Sean Keene went 2-for-4 to lead the way.
Marc Beland went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Also notching hits for Shedd were Mercuri (RBI), Sean Bryan (2 walks, RBI), Kyle Krug (triple, 2 RBI) and Brian Hoey (2 RBI).
Dracut travels to Lowell for Game 2 on Monday (5:30 p.m.).
Kyler Brown went the distance on the mound to propel Chelmsford to the Game 1 victory.
Brown struck out 6, walked 2 and allowed only 3 hits. Chelmsford scored twice in the first inning with run-scoring hits from Kevin Sweeney and Josh Roberge. The hosts added two more in the fifth on singles by Jacob Monaghn and Matt Dimitrov. Eric Wrobel finished 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases and Matt Vignola chipped in 2 hits for the winners.
Chelmsford goes for the sweep Monday (5:30 p.m.) in Reading.
North Reading 2
Brett Lepoer pitched 5 strong innings, allowing 3 hits and fanning 8, as Lowell opened the best-of-three series with a decisive win at home.
Thomas Hassett came on in relief, yielding no hits and striking out 4.
Tommy Cannon led Lowell offensively by going 2-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI. Lepoer (RBI) and John Donovan also had 2 hits for Lowell. Edgar Velazquez (RBI) and Yandel Tineo each chipped in with a hit.
