LOWELL -- The Lowell entry in the Northeast Summer Baseball League advanced to the championship series with a 3-1 win over Wilmington Saturday night at Stoklosa/Alumni Field.
After losing Game 1 of the three-game semifinal series, Lowell posted back-to-back victories to claim the series and advance to the finals.
Lowell will take on Methuen in the championship series. Game 1 is Monday at Alumni Field, Game 2 will be Wednesday in Methuen, and Game 3, if necessary, will be back at Alumni Field on Thursday. All games start at 5:45 p.m.
On Saturday, Dalton Quinn won a pitcher's duel against Wilmington's James Hill, going all 7 innings and allowing just 2 hits while striking out 2.
Lowell got runs in the second, third and fifth innings to forge a 3-0 lead before Wilmington got one back in the sixth, but Quinn shut the door after that.
Offensively for Lowell, Alex Cruz was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Sean Bryan also had 2 hits.
