The Lowell Post 87 American Legion baseball team will host Ashland in the first game of the double-elimination Zone 5 District playoffs.

The game will be played at Alumni Field at 7 p.m.

Win or lose, Lowell will play again on Monday with the opponent, site and time to be determined.

Coach Mike McLeod's team ended the season on a hot streak, winning eight of its last nine games to finish 13-5 atop the Zone 5B standings.

Lowell earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. Zone 5A champ Sudbury (14-3) is the top seed, Ashland (13-5) is the No. 3 seed and Watertown (13-5) is No. 4.

Coach McLeod gave special thanks to City Manager Kevin Murphy and Parks Commissioner Tom Bellegarde for securing Stoklosa/Alumni Field for tonight's game.
