The Billerica Floggers (11-2) topped the Billerica Shamrocks, 12-4, in Suburban Pony League baseball action Sunday evening.

The Floggers took advantage of walks and aggressive baserunning to take a 4-0 lead after 2 innings.

In the bottom of the 3rd, the Floggers broke open the game with 5 runs on a double by Mike Whalen, a 2-run home run by Anthony Nelson, an RBI single by Justin Beecher and a 2-run single by Tyler Bradanese.

The Shamrocks came right back in the top of the 4th with 3 runs, keyed by a 2-run home run by Brent Boudrot. But the Floggers pushed across 3 more runs in the 6th on hits by Aaron Bennett and Sean Hines, and a 2-run single by Gavin Tierney.

Jake Nelson pitched well with 6 strikeouts and just 2 hits allowed for the Floggers, but had to leave the game in the 4th after being hit by a pitch. Justin Beecher came on in relief and got the win, striking out 5 while giving up 4 hits.

Ryan Ames, of Lowell, scored the winning goal in overtime to help Northeast beat Coastal in the Bronze Medal game.
