Lowell Catholic had another extra-inning victory and this time Eric Maxfield was the hero.

Trailing Woburn 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, Maxfield hit a walkoff single, driving in two runs in a thrilling 4-3 victory during Northeast League action.


Lowell Catholic 4, Woburn 3

Mike Barletta went the first three innings on the mound for LC (4-2), giving up only 1 hit and 1 earned run, while walking 1 and striking out 1. Harris Varnum was the winning pitcher in a strong relief effort. Varnum pitched 6 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2.

Varnum also had 2 hits, including an RBI. Jesse Caisse had a great hitting performance with 4 hits.


Medford 4, Lowell 3

Brock Riley went the distance on the mound and struck out 7, but Lowell (6-4) came up short at Stoklosa/Alumni Field. Riley allowed just 6 hits.

Chris Mansour went 1-for-1 at the plate with a double, walk and sacrifice fly. He knocked in 3 runs. Randy DeJesus had a single and a triple, and also scored 2 runs.


14-15 Division

Billerica Shamrocks 3, Andover 1

Billy Rose earned the win, striking out 9 and allowing 4 hits in 6 innings.

Brendan Maloney unloaded a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth in the big hit of the game. Mark Swenson closed out the game on the mound. Johnny O'Neill had 2 hits for the Shamrocks.



Floggers 10, Lowell Shedd 3

Tyler Bradanese doubled as part of a 4-hit, 5-RBI performance for Billerica (5-0).

Justin Beecher claimed 2 two and scored 2 runs. Mike Whalen and Sean Hines both had a double, while Gavin Tierney and Ryan Cummiskey each had a single. Whalen (5 hits, 3 strikeouts, 5 2/3 innings) got the win. Defensively, second base Aaron Bennett was outstanding defensively.

Chelmsford 10, North Reading 1

Eric Wrobel led the way for the winners, going 3-for-3 with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI.

Matt Dimtrov went 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, and Jon Barry went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Josh Roberge picked up the win, striking out 5 and allowing only 2 hits.


Billerica 8, North Andover 7

With Billerica American down 7-6 to North Andover National heading into the bottom of the sixth, Sjostedt and Connor Maguire hit line drive singles to lead off.

Sjostedt scored the tying run on a double steal.

North Andover intentionally walked the next two hitters to load the bases. Eric Olson drove in pinch-runner Joe Haggerty with a sacrifice fly to win it.

DJ Sidell smashed a two-run homer, the first of his career. Cameron Sjostedt pitched 4 strong innings and Jared Plum got the win with 2 solid innings.
