LOWELL -- Sixteen members of the UMass Lowell hockey team have been named to the 2013-14 Hockey East All-Academic team.

Seniors Josh Holmstrom and Shayne Thompson were honored as Distinguished Scholars after having qualified for the All-Academic Team in each of their four seasons. Student-athletes achieving a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic semesters during the year earn a spot on the team.
Two players, senior forward Joe Pendenza (Wilmington) and junior defenseman Zack Kamrass, made their third appearance on the All-Academic Team. Sophomores Connor Hellebuyck, Michael Colantone and Nick Gordon are two-time honorees, and five players were first-time members: Joe Houk, Robert Francis, Adam Chapie, Ryan McGrath, Evan Campbell, Joe Gambardella, Michael Kapla, Chris Maniccia and Dylan Zink.
Bryn Carroll, a sophomore at Bishop Guertin High School, has been named as a 2014 Brine National High School All-American and has been selected to represent the New England Region at the 2014 Brine National Lacrosse Classic.
The Classic will be held in Boyds, Md., June 30-July 3. It brings the top-ranked high school lacrosse players in the country to compete for the national championship.
Carroll is the daughter of Lowell native Michael Carroll.

Chelmsford defeated Lowell Highlands, 7-4, in the 14-15 Division.
Josh Roberge allowed 5 hits in in 5.2 innings to pick up the win.Kyler Brown had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs. John Barry and Jacob Monahan each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
