SHREWSBURY -- Call it a three-peat.

The Concord-Carlisle girls tennis team captured its third straight Division 2 state championship with a 3-2 victory over Foxboro on Tuesday.

The Dual County League powerhouse was led by No. 1 singles star Julia Cancio, who set the tone by winning 6-0, 6-0.

The Williams-bound Cancio finished her senior season undefeated.

"It feels great," said C-C head coach Bob Furey. "For several reasons. First of all, after you've won two in a row you have the extra pressure that wasn't there before. Also, it's more important to me that it's Julia Cancio's senior year. It was really Julia that has led us to those three championships."

The Patriots had already won both doubles matches and Cancio was leading 6-0, 3-0 when the match was delayed by rain for about 30 minutes.

Both doubles teams won 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, it was Sarah Yang and Meredith Block romping. At No. 2 doubles, Sophie Hibben and Julia Cohen made a statement.

Bella Stone won her first set 6-3, but wasn't the same after the weather delay, falling 6-2, 10-5 in a 10-point tiebreaker.

Maggie Deramo fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Concord-Carlisle ended with a 18-1 record, while South champion Foxboro went 19-2.
