Jesse Ashley pitched a completegame 3-hitter to spark the Chelmsford High baseball team past MVC rival Methuen, 4-1, on Sunday.

In Dual County League softball action, Westford outslugged Acton-Boxboro, 10-4. BASEBALL Chelmsford ................................4 Methuen......................................1 The Lions evened their record at .500 (5-5) behind Ashley, who struck out 5 and walked 2.

Offensive standouts were Ben Sauter (2 hits), Quinn Cooney (2 hits, RBI) and Derek Adamson (2 hits, RBI).

Defensively, Mark Keller played well in right field while also contributing a single. SOFTBALL

Westford....................................10 Acton-Boxboro ..........................4 A five-run fifth inning carried the Grey Ghosts to the home victory.

Westford (6-6) received strong offensive games from Emily Chateaneuf (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 doubles) and Megan Scannell (3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 doubles).

Alexa Sullivan went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Caroline Baggeroer went 2-for-4. Hanna Chateaneuf and Olivia Antonelli also drove in a run each.

For Acton-Boxboro, Maya Haigis drilled a two-run homer in the third to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead. Julie Cotillo ripped a pair of doubles for A-B. BOYS LACROSSE Whittier Tech ............................6 Nashoba Tech ............................3 Despite a pair of goals from sophomore attack Jake Twombley, the Vikings fell in Haverhill.

Nick DeSalvo collected the other goal for Nashoba Tech (7-6). Ben Coppinger dished out a pair of assists, and Ben Hoenshell added an assist.

Jordan Gingras made 15 saves for the Westford school.

GIRLS TRACK

Westford Academy competed in a pair of meets Saturday.

At the Weston Twilight Meet, Ashley Craig captured the pole vault (11 feet) and was fourth in the 100 (13.06).

Kate McCluskey took third in the 400 in 61.28. In the pole vault, Jackie Beals claimed sixth and Andrea Bert was eighth with efforts of 8-6.

At the Large School Freshman/Sophomore Meet at Oliver Ames High School, Claire Widmann was third in the 2 mile in 11:52.72, while Nicole Fondots was sixth in the 200 (27.32) and eighth in the 100 (13.31), and Sarah Kinney placed sixth in the javelin (95-9). WA's 4x800 relay team took fourth in 10:52.12.
