STONEHAM -- Sophomore goalie Caty Flagg stopped all 25 shots sent at her and backboned the Austin Prep girls hockey team to a quarterfinal upset of No. 2 seed Beverly/Danvers, 3-0, at Stoneham Arena Wednesday night.

After the game victorious coach Stephanie Wood suggested that "Beverly/Danvers is a very offense minded team and they had the better of the play. We made adjustments and knew that we had to keep all 5 skaters back on defense and then look for our chances."

"Caty was immense in net," said coach Stephanie Wood.

Flagg notched her record-tying 10th shutout. The defensive quartet of sophomore Jaimee Cooke (Billerica), 8th grader Elizabeth Holubiak, senior Maryanna DiRupo (Wilmington) and sophomore Cally Chase kept control of loose pucks in the Cougars end all night.

Austin got late second-period goals from freshman Gabby Floramo and Caroline Benson. Rachael Utegg (Tewksbury) had an assist on Floramo's goal.

The final goal was sent into an empty net at 14:04 of the third period by freshman Michaela Boyle, unassisted. It was her team leading 15th goal of the season.

Beverly/Danvers held a 25-20 edge in shots on net.

Tenth-seeded AP (15-5-3) advances to the semifinals where it will face CAtholic Central League champion Arlington Catholic Sunday at 7 p.m. at Stoneham Arena.
