DRACUT -- Central Catholic senior receiver/cornerback Cody Demers of Dracut has committed to play football at Merrimack College.

Demers helped lead Central Catholic to the Division 1 state championship, and was named one of The Sun's Tri-Players of the Year. The MVC Division 1 Offensive Player of the Year, Demers had 55 receptions for 783 yards and eight touchdowns. On defense he had four interceptions.

"It's a perfect spot for him," said Central Catholic head coach Chuck Adamopoulos. "He will play slot receiver. It's a great program. It's a great program to play receiver in. He got a nice package. We're excited for him."

NASHUA, N.H. -- Elsewhere, Bishop Guertin two-way lineman Patrick Flathers of Dracut, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 275 pounds, will continue his football career at Dartmouth College in the Ivy League.

Other BG athletes announced their commitments, including boys lacrosse players John Karanasios, John Miller and Jake Sonberg, each of whom will play at Saint Michael's College.

Boys track standout Rob DeSisto is headed to New York University. Amy Vegliante will continue her track career at Sacred Heart University, while Molly McCabe plans on continue her track career at Boston College. Brett Seely-Hacker will swim at Dartmouth College.

David Pfeifer will be a diver at Harvard University.
