The Dracut seventh-grade boys travel basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with a wild 48-44 win over Westford. Clutch free throws by Tyler Pacheco and Cam McCullough in the closing 12 seconds helped secure this much needed victory. Mitchell Monette was sizzling from downtown as he hit three 3-pointers and Kevin Carney also provided points as the Middies struggled to put the Grey Ghosts away. Michael Patterson and Matt Rossetti came up with some big rebounds in this close contest.
Dracut manhandled Andover 52-25 to improve the Middies' record to 14-3. Blessed with the best bench in the Merrimack Valley League, the Middies' super subs held Andover to 8 second half points.
Trevor Usher, Aise Pream, Jaeden Yylton, William Peters, Colby Manzueta and Jeremy Gray scored points as Dracut did a much better job of passing and distributing the ball to each other, which led to many easy baskets. The boys will face a talented Haverhill squad next in a much anticipated game.
