Ciao! More than 34 food and wine enthusiasts sprung into action on June 6, when the popular and cosmopolitan Andiamo Restaurant + Bar, in beautiful, historic Chelmsford Center, hosted its first annual successful Spring Wine Dinner, in their spacious function room. A portion of the proceeds went to the Chelmsford Food Pantry.
Guests celebrated spring in style with a spectacular, special, five-course dinner, plus an exquisite wine pairing all created by talented owner and award-winning Executive Chef Jim Rogers. The wine extravaganza was sponsored by Aaronap Cellars of Westford, with CEO and Winemaker Noel Powell, who presented and poured his smooth homemade wines.
The compassionate and debonair Chef Jim, "Mr. Congeniality," sweetly smiled throughout the night as he took pride not only in preparing and presenting his masterpiece menu but also in explaining each course in detail. This is Jim's second restaurant; he owns another Andiamo in Newburyport, where he started his culinary experience as a teenaged dishwasher.
I know you are in suspense to hear about the superb menu featured that evening - and, oh boy, what humongous portions! We started with Salumi e Formaggi paired with a 2017 Stonewall White. Next, a Warm Spinach & Pork Belly Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette paired with a 2017 Estate Marquette Rose, Primi; a succulent Spring Lamb Ragout, Ricotta & Mint paired with a 2016 Zinfandel, Secondi; Grilled Duck Breast and Wild Mushroom Gnocchi paired with a 2016 Carmenere; and Dolci Dessert Martini paired with a 2016 Revolution Red (Merlot/Cab Franc).
Needless to say, The Z-List loved it all and ate every morsel along with the guests, who practically licked their plates clean!
Andiamo (Italian for "let's go") is fabuloso - not just the food and extensive specialty drink menu but the ambience.
