Ayer flushing water mains
The Water Division of the Ayer Department of Public Works will begin flushing the town's water mains on Tuesday, April 16. The semi-annual procedure will take place between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. though it will be temporarily discontinued between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to ensure pressure loss for residents is at a minimum. Residents still may experience reduced pressure and discoloration of their water during the flushing, though the discoloration should subside within 24 hours.
Ayer is the latest town in the Nashoba Valley to perform water flushing. Groton and Pepperell are both set to flush its water supply this month.
