BEACON HOSPICE: Seeking compassionate volunteers for activities from reading at a patient's bedside and knitting lap blankets, to joining Reiki and pet therapy programs. Volunteer opportunities are all free of cost. The Beacon Hospice approach to care creates an environment of hope, comfort and dignity for hospice patients and their families. Our patients live at home or in nursing facilities in areas including Westford, Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell, North Andover, Andover, Lawrence, Methuen, Haverhill, Merrimac, Amesbury, Newburyport and Salisbury. New volunteers are asked to complete an application and participate in an 8-10 hour group training program or a one-on-one, 5-hour training. The next training session will be July 16, 23 and 30.
