What is your favorite ice-cream stand?
With the arrival of warm weather comes the luxury of visiting your favorite local ice-cream stand. Two of the oldest stands that make their own ice cream are Kimball Farm in Westford (top), and Richardson's Dairies in Middleton (bottom). According its website, Kimball Farm began selling dairy in 1939 when its owners turned their wood shed into an ice-cream parlor. Today Kimball's has four locations where its homemade ice cream can be purchased. Although the Richardson family of Middleton has been farming since the early 1600s, they didn't venture into the the ice-cream business until 1952. Then, in 1978, they ventured into the wholesale icecream business. If your favorite ice-cream stand doesn't make its own ice cream, there's a good chance it comes from Richardson's.
